Although the House of the Parliament clock is commonly referred to as "Bib Ben", the name actually belongs to the clock's 13 and 1/2 ton bell! The chimes were first broadcast on 31st December 1923. The four dials on the clock are 23 square feet, with the minute hand 14 feet long and the figures 2 feet high.~from Rosemary Hassal to my daughter Lily.
